With two new locally acquired coronavirus cases in the state and one of which, a 19-year-old hospital worker who has not yet been vaccinated and has travelled around the community, Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has issued immediate stay-at-home orders for parts of the state.
The three-day lockdown will begin from 6pm today in South East Queensland, Townsville city, Palm Island and Magnetic Island.
Palaszczuk said she was “absolutely furious” that the hospital worker was not vaccinated, and stated she had “no choice” but to impose the lockdown.
“We need to go hard and we need to go fast”, the premier said.
Affected LGAs are:
- Brisbane
- Ipswich
- Logan City
- Moreton Bay
- Redlands
- Sunshine Coast
- Gold Coast
