If your event or tourism business is located in the Northern Territory, then you could be in the running to receive the highly respected Brolga award for 2021. According to Tourism Northern Territory, the Brolga Northern Territory Tourism Awards recognise and encourage tourism businesses that strive for excellence in every area of their operation.

As the official tourism awards program for the Northern Territory, winning a Brolga Award is a pretty big deal in the NT, with recipients representing the best products and services in the state. The Brolga Awards are open to festivals, events and exhibitions, tourism operators, industry suppliers and outstanding individuals.

Tourism Northern Territory states that the awards are also given out under specific categories, so if you are looking to nominate your event or business, these following categories may be ideal.

The Major Festivals & Events category and the separate Festival & Events category both recognise tourism leisure festivals, events and exhibitions that enhance the profile of the destination as well as creating economic impact, increased visitation and community involvement.

The Major Festivals & Events category requires visitor attendance to be over 50,000 while the Festivals & Events category requires visitor attendance to be under 50,000.

The George Dunne Award for Outstanding Contribution by an Individual recognises the extraordinary personal and professional achievement and contribution by an individual over many years to the Northern Territory tourism industry. The award was named after George Dunne, who was a highly respected individual in the Northern Territory tourism industry and was known for his passion and dedication to the state.

Winners of the Brolga Awards events categories will also represent the Northern Territory at the Australian Tourism Awards, which will be held late February/early March 2022.

The 2021 Brolga Awards gala event will be held in Darwin on Saturday 13 November. For more information on the awards and to nominate your event or business, click here.
