The industry conference was originally due to take place from Friday 3 to Sunday 5 September 2021 at Sea World Resort on the Gold Coast. Following a number of significant COVID-19 outbreaks, the conference was postponed to Wednesday 10 to Friday 12 November 2021 after an announcement back in July.

However, on Friday, the Australian Festival Industry Conference (AFIC) announced a further postponement with new dates now scheduled for Tuesday 30 August to Thursday 1 September 2022.

“It is with great sadness that we announce our decision to postpone the conference yet again. With the situation worsening in NSW, VIC and ACT, it makes it impossible for us to deliver the event as originally planned in November 2021”, AFIC founder and event director, Carlina Ericson said in a statement.

“Over the last few months we’ve continued to witness further event postponements and cancellations. I am conscious that everyone is going through an incredibly difficult time and I still want to ensure that we can eventually meet face-to-face to discuss how we move forward as an industry.”

Whilst the AFIC will take a hiatus this year, organisers have confirmed the program will remain as it currently stands for 2022; a 2.5 day conference with a number of keynotes and presentations from 15 industry-leading professionals, two panel discussions, two evening networking events, workshops, a trade show and a local tour of Gold Coast event venues.

Tickets to the conference are still on sale, and will now remain on sale until 23 August 2022. To view ticket types and secure your spot, click here.

Ms Ericson adds, “Already we have delegates registered to attend from Queensland, New South Wales, ACT, Victoria and South Australia, which is excellent to see, and I look forward to welcoming everyone to AFIC in 2022!”
